Wal-Mart offering free shipping for holidays

Wal-Mart just announced free shipping on 60,000 items in time for the holidays. Will you use this to help trim your holiday budget?

Wal-Mart is offering shoppers an extra incentive to shop with them this holiday season: free shipping.

Rollback even more

The rollback retailer announced the offer Thursday, just as many retailers are unveiling their mouth-watering Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. The free shipping will be good on over 60,000 holiday items. The free-shipping deal is good on any purchase — a change from many retailers’ minimum purchase requirements.

“Customers are doing all they can to save money this holiday, so we’re excited to offer free shipping to home, with no minimum purchase requirement as an early Christmas present to them,” said Steve Nave, general manager of Walmart.com in a statement.

Eligible items

Some of the items eligible for the free shipping deal include the Sony Handycam 4GB Flash Memory Camcorder ($249), Sony Bravia 46-inch 1080p LCD HDTV ($898) and the HP Garden Dreams 14.5-inch Pavilion Special Edition Laptop with Windows 7 ($598.)

The program is designed to complement Wal-Mart’s Site-to-Store program that offers online shoppers free shipping to any Wal-Mart store. The retailer started Site-to-Store after discontinuing their layaway department — it’s used, but not as popular as the former layaway program.

Wal-Mart Black Friday 2010 ad

The Wal-Mart Black Friday ad hasn’t hit the web yet — and believe us, we’d know if it did. Many other Black Friday ads have already been leaked, including Target, Sears and Kohl’s. However, Wal-Mart’s free shipping announcement likely means the ad will be out very soon.

Will you be taking advantage of Wal-Mart’s free shipping deal?
