Sofía Vergara
Sofia Vergara was born on July 10, 1972, in Barranquilla, Colombia, and became one of the world's most-known Colombian actresses.
Vergara got her start in the industry when a photographer scouted her on a beach at just 17 years old. As she began to pursue modeling, Vergara gave up studying dentistry at a university in Colombia and became a model and TV host for local shows. In 1998, she moved to Miami, Florida, with her family and continued her hosting career with the Spanish-language game show A que no te atreves.
By the early 2000s, Vergara made her acting debut in the crime drama Four Brothers (2005) and the comedy Meet the Browns (2008). In 2009, she also made her Broadway debut as Mama Morton in the Broadway revival of Chicago.
That same year, Vergara was cast as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the hit ABC comedy series Modern Family. Alongside a series of hilarious actors, Vergara received enormous praise for her performance, including earning multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations throughout the show's 11 seasons until 2020.
That same year, she became a judge in the reality competition show America’s Got Talent.
In 2024, Vergara surprised fans by taking a swing into a more dramatic role as drug trafficker Griselda Blanco in the Netflix miniseries Griselda (2024). For her performance, Vergara received an Emmy nomination.
As for her personal life, Vergara is a proud mom to her son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, who was born in 1991 when she was just 18 years old. Vergara was married to ex-husband Joe Gonzalez from 1991 to 1993.
In 2015, she married actor Joe Manganiello. In July 2023, the two announced their separation. Their divorce was finalized in April 2024.
