Searching for a break from the typical braid? The chain braid will elevate any look this season and beyond. It’s the fashionable alternative to the classic braid — so Instagram-worthy and pinnable. Here’s how to get the look.
Step one
Form a midrise ponytail at the back of the head. Split your pony into two main sections. Then, split each main section into two smaller sections (i.e., mini-ponies).
Step two
Rope your first mini-pony by twisting both sectioned strands to the right to form tight ropes.
Step three
Then intertwine both roped sections ever so often to the right to start seeing your rope chain come to life.
Step four
Once finished with the first roped chain, secure with an elastic band.
Step five
Now begin roping your second section (i.e., second set of mini-ponies) — still roping to the right. Once finished with your second roped mini-pony, secure with another elastic band.
Step six
Create a 3-D chain length braid by roping both finished sections to the right — creating a three-dimensional-looking chain.
Final look
Secure final braid with an elastic band. It’s important to just rope to the right to get the desired look.
