We all have ridiculously expensive designer pieces we lust after from time to time. Last week, I was mesmorized by this gorgeous Gucci scarf, that is until I saw the $1,200 price tag. If you have expensive taste like I do, but happen to also be cash poor, don’t despair. You can get the most fashion-forward styles for a portion of the price — all you have to do is know where to look.
I did the hard work for you with some of my favorite winter/spring transition pieces. In this slideshow, you’ll see the expensive clothing items alongside their much less expensive twins, and find out just how much you’ll save if you go for the cheaper version.
Thigh-high boots
The Stuart Weitzman thigh high on the left is $798, while the Ego version on the right is only $40.
Fringe jacket
Why drop $4,790 for a ’70s-inspired fringe jacket by Saint Laurent when you only need to spend $70?
Fur coat
I know, I know, the H&M coat isn’t real fur. Who needs it? Get a full (faux) coat instead of just a vest!
Leather jacket
Almost identical-looking leather jackets, except that one is $700 and the other one is $98.
Leather pants
You’ll look just as smokin’ in the $60 Asos version of these pants as you would in J Brand’s $998 version.
Purple ribbed dress
I honestly think the cheaper Enza Costa dress is much more flattering than the Ronny Kobo one.
Secret agent black tote bag
Sure the DVF bag carries the label, but beyond that, the Asos bag could be its fraternal twin.
Caged sandal pump
You’ll pay almost $90 less if you go for the Steve Madden sandal over the Shutz sandal.
Suede button-down skirt
$238 versus $50 for practically the same suede mini skirt? No contest!
Perforated white flats
Identical shoes, but if you go Kirkwood, you’re forking over $395 more than if you went Campbell.
White lace romper
Misguided does a pretty fitting version of Alexis Garner’s white lace romper for a lot less.
