Pikelet and Patty Cakes may not look like your average foster parents, but believe me, they’ve had enough practice to school most human parents. Their owners, an Australian husband-and-wife team, have been fostering animals of various species for three and a half years now, so naturally their pit bulls share in some of the parenting responsibilities and, more often than not, seem to be having the best time doing it.
Here they are with their little piglet ward, Punk, who came to the family as a rescue from a group of piglets that were being sold for profit.
Piglet parents
While they had never fostered a piglet before, the pit bull boys took to her immediately.
Passenger
“She’s doing great with Patty, and she is starting to really play and climb all over him,” Calley told The Dodo.
Lazy mornings
While they loved Punk, the boys more regularly foster puppies, like adorable little Potato here.
Pajama party
I know there already was a bed shot, but just look at this cuteness.
Beach day
And of course, what puppy doesn’t love rubbing his nose in the sand at the beach?
Clean faces
Who doesn’t need a bath after the beach, am I right?
Sleep time
Sometimes the only way to get a baby to sleep is if you sleep with him.
By the sea
Here they are, getting in some sun and sea on Potato’s last day with the family (he found a forever home).
Duck babies
Piglets aren’t the only unusual foster pet to be nurtured by Pikelet and Patty. Meet ducklings Penguin and Popinjay.
Easter
Celebrating Easter the only way you should when you have ducklings on hand.
Duck nap
Is there room for one more in this snuggle fest? Because I’d really like to join.
Duck heads
And the award for World’s Most Patient Dogs goes to…
Denim twins
While animal friends have come and gone, each one made an impression on the boys.
Bath time
They made sure to take care of them all like they were their own.
So. Many. Puppies.
No matter how many there were at one time.
Carpool
Ah, dad life. Could there be anything more wonderful/exhausting?
