The Obamas’ next home might be better than the White House

After eight years under the international spotlight, no one would blame President and Michelle Obama for jetting off to some remote exotic island for a couple of years to recover. But we also happen to know that the First Couple is fiercely devoted to their two daughters, and have decided to stay in Washington, D.C. after Obama leaves office, so their younger daughter, Sasha, can finish up high school with her class.

So, now the Obamas have picked a gorgeous mansion in the Kalorama neighborhood of Washington, D.C., which is no stranger to high-profile pols like Ted Kennedy and Donald Rumsfeld. The home they’ve chosen was last sold to former Clinton administration press secretary Joe Lockhart and his Glamour editor wife Giovanna Gray for just over $5 million.

The mansion has a whopping 8,200 square feet over four floors with nine bedrooms and 8 1/2 bathrooms. When you’ve got a full-time Secret Service detail, you need a few extra potties.

The house is undeniably pretty from the street, but wait until you see the interior. It might just make the White House look a little shabby.
