Kirk Cameron has reappeared from the anonymity he has been living in for the last few decades. But for many, they wish he would have just stayed there.
Why Kirk Cameron could be next in line for his own reality show
This time, the former Growing Pains star released a video about the holidays — and while it was about family, Cameron devoted the video to telling women what their place is.
“Calling all moms, wives and keepers of your home — I made this video for you, to remind you of how irreplaceable you are to your family this Christmas,” he said, adding that the woman’s place is in the home, caring for their family.
He added that women are required to ignore any stress they have to provide joy for the household.
“If you are a mom, if you are a wife, if you’re the keeper of your home, I want you to know that your joy is so important this Christmas,” Cameron added. “Because Christmas is about joy and if the joy of the Lord is your strength, remember, the joy of the mom is her children’s strength, so don’t let anything steal your joy.”
“If you let your joy get stolen, it will sap your strength,” he continued. “Let your children, your family, see your joy in the way that you decorate your home this Christmas, in the food that you cook, the songs you sing, the stories you tell and the traditions that you keep.”
Although Cameron was promoting his new film, the message could be taken a variety of ways. The actor pops up every few years and generally makes plenty of people mad each time he does.
Here are a few other times he made misogynistic or otherwise offensive comments:
Back in 2012, Cameron shared his thoughts on homosexuality in an interview with Piers Morgan:
“Marriage is almost as old as dirt and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either,” Cameron explained. “So, do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.
“I think that it’s — it’s — it’s unnatural. I think that it’s — it’s detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

Back in January, Cameron renewed this stance, after Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert performed their pro-LGBT song, “Same Love,” at the Grammys. He said, “How did you like the Grammy’s [sic] all out [sic] assault on the traditional family last night?”
Grumpy cat vs. Kirk Cameron: Whose Christmas movie is worse?
This month, Cameron wrote a piece for the Christian Post and he hopes Christians “won’t drink the Kool-Aid” of people who think Christmas is about anything but Jesus Christ’s birth — and that maybe it has another historical beginning.
“It starts this time of year. You have people who want to pull down nativity scenes, you have lawsuits showing up in schools that can’t have Christmas performances,” he explained. “It has to be winter break or holiday break or sparkle season. They want to take that out of Christmas so they don’t offend people who hate Christmas. And then we have a new group who are telling us, convincingly, that Christmas is actually a celebration of paganism.
“We don’t know this stuff, we kinda drink the Kool-Aid and believe pagans when they tell us they have ownership of these things.”
If it helps paint a better picture of Kirk Cameron’s beliefs, the actor also recently spent his 44th birthday watching his new movie with the cast of Duck Dynasty.
