Guardians of the Galaxy cast’s epic dance-off (VIDEO)

We love Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy, but their outtake just made us even more excited about the film because it revealed something extra-special and hilarious: a dance-off.

Guardians of the Galaxy‘s James Gunn: Bonus clip during credits adds “entire new element to the Marvel universe”

Buzzfeed News have shared the video of the epic dance-off that didn’t make it to the big screen, but you’ll be happy to see it now.

The scene is when Chris Pratt‘s character Peter Quill tries to distract villain Ronan the Accuser, played by Lee Pace, from destroying an entire planet — and he does this all by using some good old ’80s dance moves.

Dance-off, bro — it’s me versus you,” Quill tells Ronan the Accuser, who gladly accepts the challenge.

The details and planning behind this hilarious cut scene were revealed by Star-Lord himself.

“We were filming what was essentially, you know, the climax of the entire movie… and I was dancing,” Pratt told Buzzfeed News with a laugh. “I was standing there… in front of 200 extras in full alien makeup. And none of them knew what the hell was happening either. They thought they were on a serious movie because of all the time and the effort that had been put into their makeup. So I just had this energy of, like, ‘What am I doing?'”

The script didn’t specify how Pratt should dance and he got no help from a pro, so he did some of his own research.

“I did have a pretty good sense of the era from which I would be drawing dance moves, given that Quill draws all of his pop-culture references from a certain time frame of basically 1985 and earlier,” he explained. “So I thought he wouldn’t necessarily be doing the Dougie because he wouldn’t know what that is… I did some research on [’80s dancing], and it happens to be right in my dance wheelhouse anyways.”

Pratt is not the only one who shows off his dancing skills during the film. Zoe Saldana, who plays Gamora, also gets in on the action.

“I was just trying different things, because I was just so nervous that what we were doing wasn’t going to work. I’m not even sure whose idea it was, but they just sprung into the idea that we would [all] do the entire dance-off. At that point, [we thought] if this whole thing doesn’t work, at least we’re going to have a helluva time and a lot of fun doing it,” Pratt confessed.

The exclusive outtake from the summer blockbuster will available on Blu-ray edition out Dec. 9, but for now you can watch the video below.
