Pretty Little Liars is back with a new villain who is bigger and badder than ever before.
Sure CeCe was pretty terrible. She kidnapped and tortured the Liars along with Mona, Sarah and who knows who else. But she didn’t go around murdering people. Even when it looked like she had.

But ABC Family’s transition to Freeform isn’t the only upgrade we saw today. Pretty Little Liars‘ violence, cursing and drinking is also getting a huge boost.
And the new big bad isn’t messing around. S/he is just flat out killing people. Starting with CeCe Drake.
For those of you who have been following my PLL chats over the years, you know that I was absolutely convinced that Big A was a Liar. I was really, really convinced at one point that Hanna (Ashley Benson) was going to be the culprit. It could have made so much sense!
And a Liar would have been the ultimate shock. Can you imagine if Hanna, Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Aria (Lucy Hale) or Emily (Shay Mitchell) was responsible for all of that terror? If the clues fit, it could have been mind-blowingly amazing.

That’s why this time around, with the clean slate thanks to the time jump, I’m really hoping the show jumps on board with my hopes and dreams. This new baddie should absolutely be a Liar.
Who else would have more motive than anyone else to want CeCe dead?
Maybe Sarah, maybe even Ali. But my money is on either Hanna, Spencer, Aria or Emily.
Either that or CeCe is the new big bad after faking her own murder and returning to her old ways. I mean, we have seen crazier things on the show in the past, let’s be real.
After the premiere, it looks like Aria is the prime suspect. And, judging by the preview for next week’s episode, the girls agree. She said she didn’t want CeCe to be released and then she left her hotel room late at night for an unexplained reason.

Of course, she could have just been rekindling things with Ezra. (We can dream!) But more than likely, she was off on some sneaky, Liar-like business.
I, personally, don’t think Aria is the murderer. If we know anything from Pretty Little Liars‘ past six seasons it’s that it’s never the obvious suspect.
