How is it possible that Nyle DiMarco makes me think about my life every week on Dancing with the Stars? The deaf model keeps challenging the way I think about the deaf community and what is possible in anyone’s life.

In this week’s semifinals on the dance competition show, Peta Murgatroyd choreographed an Argentine tango to the song “Unsteady” by X Ambassadors. It was the perfect accompaniment to a sultry and powerful dance that shows the couple is truly redefining dance.
The duo flawlessly moved in and out of DiMarco being blindfolded to having his full vision without missing a beat. He essentially lost two senses while moving in unison with his partner out on the ballroom floor.

His astounding abilities make me question why I set limitations on myself in everyday life. The America’s Next Top Model winner is proving that I need to get over myself and get out there and try, no matter what the obstacle is.
DiMarco dances on a live national TV show each week; he moves with confidence, even if he’s out of step. He doesn’t get flustered, he continues on with a smile on his face.
That confidence has been in place since his audition for ANTM.
“He wasn’t coming at us as ‘this is my sob story,’ he was coming at us as ‘this is who I am and this is why I am amazing,’” said ANTM’s casting director Michelle Mock-Falcon in DiMarco’s DWTS package this week. “It made me kind of fall in love even more.”
The 27-year-old contestant has never been in jeopardy of being voted out of the show; he’s a fan-favorite and he’s changing lives.
The man who wanted to be a math teacher knows he’s on a different path now.
“I’m educating the hearing world about deaf culture and I’m still inspiring deaf kids,” he said on DWTS. “I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to the classroom. I think I like this better. I think I’m making a bigger impact.”
He’s also making an impact on the judges.
“I don’t think anyone can really appreciate the problems that you have to go through to be on Dancing with the Stars,” said veteran ballroom judge Len Goodman. “And, Nyle, you never cease to amaze. Well done.”

“Tonight, what you did, you reminded us to constantly push our boundaries. I love your fearlessness; it inspires me to the deepest core of my being,” gushed Carrie Ann Inaba.
I don’t see how it’s possible that the other two finalists — Ginger Zee and Paige VanZant — could beat him. He’s the whole package and DWTS might as well engrave that Mirror Ball trophy now.
