Céline Dion opened up to People for the first time since the passing of her husband, René Angélil, and let me warn you, you’ll need tissues before you read on.
The singer got a phone call from Angélil right before hitting the stage for her show in Las Vegas — it was a quick chat, just long enough for the two to exchange I love yous. By the time Dion had returned to their Vegas home after her show, Angélil was already asleep so she didn’t wake him. The next morning, she says, was when she received the call that her beloved husband had passed.

Dion rushed to his bedside to say one last goodbye. Dion said, “I closed the door, so the children wouldn’t sense anything. I got on my knees and I kissed him. It was the coldest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life, but it was amazing. I said, ‘Promise me not to worry. I’m fine, the kids are great, we’re gonna be okay. It’s enough suffering. Just go in peace.'”
I warned you it would be a tear-jerker.

When she was asked whether or not she wished she had gone into his room on the final night to talk to him, Dion said no. She explained, “I didn’t want to wake him. I should have gone and said, ‘I love you and I’m here,’ but I don’t want to live with that regret. I meant well by not waking him.”
She sounds like a woman who truly misses the love of her life but is content knowing that they shared true happiness and a lifetime of genuine love together. Their love resulted in three sons, René-Charles and twins Nelson and Eddy. All in all, it was a wild success just like everything else they did together.
