To whet the appetites of fans of The Real Housewives of Orange County (which premieres June 20! Woot!), Bravo aired a gem called The Real Housewives of Orange County Uncensored on Monday night. And perhaps, if you saw any part of the show, you’ll agree that the special should have really been called The Real Housewives of Orange County All Hate Gretchen Rossi.

The show featured Housewives past and present, but the drama seemed to really center on Gretchen Rossi and her possibly fake proposal to Slade Smiley. From the get-go, people have been skeptical and, for lack of a better phrase, unimpressed with Rossi and Smiley’s relationship, but the biggest controversy to ever surround the two was when Rossi proposed — or, “proposed” — to Smiley.
For those of you with rusty RHOC knowledge, back in Season 8 of the show, Rossi devised this elaborate plan — replete with helicopters and a surprise song she wrote — to propose to Smiley, who, by the way, she’s still with and still not married to. Many fans, as well as many members of the show, found something about the proposal fishy. And during Monday night’s special, Tamra Judge insinuated that Rossi proposed after she (Judge) told her she had to do something to liven up her boring storyline.
“I remember having a conversation with Gretchen and I said to her, ‘You’re not doing anything. You’ve got nothing going on with your life. You have no kids, you’re not married,’ and lo and behold, she came up with this big plan to propose to Slade,” Judge said during the special, more or less confirming many people’s suspicions. Even Andy Cohen said at one point, “It just seemed like the proposal was all tied in to the show.”

Rossi was not and is not having this, though. Not only did she break down in tears during the show, but since it’s aired she’s been tweeting up a storm and posting to Instagram, and has even made mention of having lawyers involved now.
Here’s the thing, though: Despite Rossi’s tears and declarations of love and tales of deception from her castmates, a lot of people aren’t buying it. Here’s a sampling of people’s reactions on Twitter:
Again, Rossi isn’t finding any of this amusing. She’s even saying that the producers at RHOC are lying.
She’s also saying that the women, including Heather Dubrow, lied about her during the special.
Hmm… while everyone seemed to be especially harsh on her, Rossi sure is going a little overboard with all of this. What’s that theory about the guiltiest people denying the most?

We haven’t heard from Rossi in a while, so many of us believed that she had moved on and truly was above all of the RHOC drama. But after Monday night’s show — and the barrage of tweets and Instagram posts that followed — it seems like she really is still caught up in all of the crap. Or maybe, you know, Judge still brings out the worst in her.
Either way, Rossi’s best bet is to take a chill pill and not make such a mountain out of a molehill. So, people think her proposal was fake? If she and Smiley are in love, what does she care? She should be moving forward, not getting sucked back into all of the drama.
Or, you know, she could just marry Smiley and shut everyone — including Andy Cohen — up. We love you, Gretchen, but seriously, if it was the real deal, what has taken so long?
Do you think Gretchen Rossi’s proposal was real?
