Last Friday’s release of the 2005 Donald Trump interview with former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush shook an entire presidential election. It not only incorporated the political and the entertainment worlds, it also drew attention to one particular Days of Our Lives star, Arianne Zucker.
More:Sorry Trump, but your words do matter to me
While the soap star never asked to be a part of this unfortunate narrative, Zucker rose above the fray with a classy response on Twitter.
She wrote, “I am a strong, independent, hard working mother, business woman and partner to a great man. I have grown to learn that the words of others cannot affect the value of my self worth or define the content of my character. How we treat one another, whether behind closed doors, locker rooms or face to face, should be done with kindness, dignity and respect.”

As challenging as the last few days have been for Zucker, soap fans and stars reached out to her on social media to let her know she’s not alone.
Former DOOL co-star Jen Lilley chimed in with, “Fully support the #GOP putting in a new nominee!! #Doit!!! No one talks about my sisterwife @Ari_Zucker like that.”
What was even more heartwarming was the outpouring of support to Zucker’s Arrow-Heart Adventure Camp, which offers mentorship to teens to create confidence and critical-thinking skills through challenging outdoor adventures.
“Make something positive out of all the attention @Ari_Zucker is getting today by supporting her wonderful charity, Arrow-Heart.com,” wrote DOOL actor Paul Telfer.

Several fans shared that they contributed to the charity. One even suggested Trump make a donation to try and make things right to Zucker, who was dragged into an uncomfortable narrative.
The incident also shines a light on how women are often treated in the workplace and society. Many women have walked in Zucker’s shoes, and sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior are often dismissed merely as “locker-room talk.”
With Zucker’s inspiring response, soap fans have the ability to start changing the dialogue. We can speak up. We can support other women. And we can say that we will not tolerate being subjected to unwanted advances or rape culture.
Many women have shared their stories on Twitter with author Kelly Oxford’s hashtag, #NotOkay. She has heard from thousands of women sharing their stories of sexual harassment and assault.
Zucker is only one person and only one voice, but let’s all stand up and try to make a disturbing issue a rare one for women.
