As a women’s website, we talk a lot about the women of note who are role models in this country. But there are notable men too.
And boy do we need some strong, stable role models of men right now, in a time when Justin Bieber and Donald Trump are ruling the internet headlines.

Luckily, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is keeping my hope alive for celebrity men.
He recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (another fella we can look up to) and reunited a producer on the show with her Air Force husband just in the time for holidays.
I, like Fallon, definitely got choked up by the sweet moment.
And while this couple was definitely the star of the segment, it is Johnson who continues to shine as a beacon for men, old and young, to look up to.

Let us count the ways Johnson is an inspiration:
1. He’s well-spoken and educated
Johnson graduated from the University of Miami, but it isn’t his college education alone that makes him intelligent.
He didn’t become the highest-paid actor in Hollywood by chance.
Heck, I’d vote for him!
2. He loves his family
This video, in which Johnson talks about his daughter and his family is an instant heart-warmer. Get the tissues ready.
3. He takes care of his body and encourages others to do the same
Sure, Johnson was definitely named People‘s Sexiest Man of 2016 for a damn good reason. Those abs are the things of legend. But it isn’t just his body that is rockin’, it’s also the pride he takes in pushing others to do the same. He even has an app with some hilarious alarms and tips for training.
4. He has a sense of humor
Just watch the trailer for his upcoming Baywatch movie.
5. He’s open about his struggles
Johnson has struggled with depression and anxiety, but at the end of the day, he’s a success story about following your heart.
6. He respects women
“When I say I’m going to take care of a woman, I don’t just mean physically or sexually or romantically. I’m going to take care of her emotionally and spiritually,” Johnson said in a September 2016 interview with Essence magazine. “I’m going to take care of her in all ways. I take a lot of pride in that today.”

A lot of people are scared about the shape of our country right now. While I still wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, I too am nervous heading into the future. There seems to be so much that is dividing so many people are the moment, but there are still positive threads that bind us together. Kindness like Johnson has shown keeps my hope alive.
Here’s to more celebrities like him making headlines in 2017.
