It’s the day after the Super Bowl, and we’re still talking about its commercials — for good reason.
For nearly two weeks leading up to game day, many ads rolled out online, from full-length commercials to teasers. But leave it to NBC and its advertisers during the Super Bowl to throw the expectations of millions watching the game right out the window. For one, we won’t soon forget David Harbour in those very meta Tide ads. And that Chris Hemsworth commercial with its surprise twist? Well played. Oh, and let’s not forget New York Giants’ Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr.’s Dirty Dancing moment.
If you weren’t simultaneously watching the game and following live-tweets reacting to commercials in real-time, then you truly missed out.
The following commercials were the real MVPs — as were the Twitterverse’s reactions to them.

Solo: A Star Wars Story teaser trailer
Solo: A Star Wars Story. Trailer Tomorrow. #HanSolopic.twitter.com/y6l5P0K53n
— Star Wars (@starwars) February 4, 2018
We didn’t get a full trailer, but this teaser was enough to hold us over. Airing within the first 30 minutes of the game, we finally got a taste of what’s to come in the Star Wars prequel all about Han Solo — including a glimpse of Donald Glover’s portrayal of Lando Calrissian. It’s no surprise that following the release of the teaser, #SoloAStarWarsStory quickly started trending on Twitter.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer
People love their trailers — and the new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is no exception. Get through the first 12 honestly terrifying seconds, and you’ll get introduced to a new dino breed. Plus, you’ll see the destruction of Isla Nublar. Cool.
Not gonna lie. That Jurassic world trailer was wayyy better than the teaser. I’m on board. pic.twitter.com/IiQCz8rc3L

Morgan Freeman lip-synching to Missy Elliott

It didn’t take long for Morgan Freeman to start trending on Twitter following the Doritos vs. Mountain Dew commercial. In it, Peter Dinklage (lip-synching to a Busta Rhymes track) lip-synch battles Morgan Freeman (singing along to Missy Elliott’s “Get Ur Freak On”). It’s perfect.
Morgan Freeman spitting get your freak on by Missy Elliot is up there with best things I’ve ever seen in my life. 🤣🤣😂😂Hollllaaaaaaaa #SuperBowl

The Rock’s new movie
OK, we really feel for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for this one, but — come on — he had to have seen it coming. A trailer for Johnson’s new movie, Skyscraper, aired, and it looks like all the rest of his films, right?
the rock really got a movie where he fights a building tho

Tide’s commercials
Is every ad a Tide ad?
If it’s clean, It’s a #TideAd#SB52#SBLIIpic.twitter.com/6xbkCGeZ0c— Tide (@tide) February 5, 2018
Stranger Things star David Harbour is our Tide hero. The commercials are very meta and pure genius, integrating other brands humorously and perfectly — including the Old Spice guy!
Check out Old Spice’s response to the ad…

That cringeworthy Diet Coke ad
It seems that no one liked Diet Coke’s ad for its new mango-flavored drink. In it, Australian actor Hayley Magnus shows viewers the unexpected side effects of Diet Coke Twisted Mango. Now, we don’t condone the skinny-shaming responses, but we will agree that the commercial was incredibly awkward and very uncomfortable — an undeniable head-scratcher. Better luck next year, Diet Coke.
Even Kate Moss thinks the model in that Diet Coke spot was frighteningly thin.

A Dundee movie featuring Chris Hemsworth?
We got fooled by none other than Chris Hemsworth, Danny McBride and Tourism Australia. In what was teased all week as a Dundee movie reboot starring Hemsworth and McBride, viewers got a surprise twist: It’s actually a tourism ad. Minutes after it aired, Australia quickly began trending on Twitter with over 100,000 tweets. Well played.
I went on a real journey with that Australia ad where I was like “ugh really? Well I AM happy Chris Hemsworth is doing more comedic roles….oh really? Hm ok well what’s Chris Hemsworth’s next comedy, then”

Steven Tyler in a Kia commercial
Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler driving a Kia? Check. Steven Tyler longing for his youth? Check. The Twitterverse promptly cracking jokes about Steven Tyler’s appearance? Oh, yeah.

NFL’s Dirty Dancing commercial
Watching New York Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. and Eli Manning recreate that iconic scene from Dirty Dancing was hands down one of our (and Reese Witherspoon’s!) favorite moments. Thanks, NFL.
Ashley Iaconetti died at 9:21 EST right after Eli & OBJ re-enacted Dirty Dancing. She loved hard & cried a lot. 💀
