Congrats are in order for American Idol alum Jordin Sparks! The singer and her husband, Dana Isaiah, welcomed their first child at 9:04 p.m. on May 2. According to People, Sparks gave birth to a son, whom the couple named Dana Isaiah Thomas Jr. — or DJ, for short.

The precious new addition came into the world weighing 8 lbs. 4.5 oz. and measuring in at 21 1/2 inches. He was born at Los Angeles’ Natural Birth Center & Women’s Wellness. “It was miraculously beautiful. Dana caught him with my midwife, Simona, and when he handed him to me, I was absolutely overwhelmed with joy,” Sparks told People. “He was and is everything we imagined.”
Sparks, who says she’s feeling “pretty good” following the birth, is clearly relishing every moment of her new adventures in motherhood, gushing, “It’s only been a few days and I love it so much already! The joy, laughter, scrapes and bruises… I can’t wait for it all!”

On Saturday, Sparks took to Instagram to share DJ’s very first photo and, not surprisingly, the kid is too cute already. “He’s here & we couldn’t be more in love!!! Go DJ!,” Sparks captioned the snapshot of her son snuggled into his car seat.

DJ isn’t the only big change in Sparks’ life as of late. It’s been less than a year since the singer eloped in Hawaii with now-husband Isaiah. The couple enjoyed a small, intimate ceremony surrounded by a handful of close friends. By August, they realized they were expecting.

Sparks and Isaiah have shared their journey to parenthood, and — we gotta say — it’s been sweet watching their joy (and family) grow. Sparks perhaps said it best back in February during an interview with Wonderwall: “It’s all so new but it’s all so beautiful at the same time.”
