Quite a few celebrities choose to be private on Instagram and don’t post any photos of their kids — Sandra Bullock is one of those celebrity moms. Since adopting her two children the Bird Box actor has avoided the spotlight. But on Friday, we got a rare glimpse inside her home with 8-year-old daughter Laila when they made a surprise appearance on Red Table Talk’s special Mother’s Day episode.
Jada Pinkett-Smith — along with her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and her 19-year-old daughter, Willow — called April Buencamino, a nurse manager in charge of COVID-19 patients at Adventist Health White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles. The reason for the call: Bullock had donated 6,000 KN95 masks to frontline workers at the Los Angeles hospital, and so the Red Table Talk hosts called Buencamino asking if she got to meet the actress when she made her donation.

After Buencamino said she hadn’t, Bullock herself popped up onscreen to surprise the nurse.
“April, thank you for — I’m going to try to say this without crying — but thank you for everything that you’re doing because we get to sit here and be home with our families because you are out there doing the hard, hard, hard work,” the star said with tears in her eyes. “There is not a dinner and a grace that goes by without us sending you the love and appreciation and the gratitude that we as a family have because we are safe.”
“And you as a mom, I know you’re scared, I know you’re scared on so many levels,” she continued. “I bow down to you and your family, I say thank you. We’re just so very grateful for you and everyone that does what you do.”
Then, Bullock’s daughter Laila jumped in to express her gratitude as well. “Thank you April for doing everything for everyone,” she said. “Stay safe, and your family.”
What a beautiful moment to share just ahead of Mother’s Day.
