Chipotle Queso Is Finally Available Everywhere

We’ve been through so many ups and downs with Chipotle in the past few years, I feel like they’re one of my exes. First, there was nothing but love for their tasty jumbo burritos; then, the E. coli outbreak happened. They rebounded, mostly because I couldn’t resist the siren call of a sofritas burrito with guac… and then there was a norovirus outbreak. But now that they’ve been in the clear health-code wise for a few years, they might just be able to win us back forever, because, friends, they’re making their queso available at locations nationwide.

The queso first popped up at the Chipotle Next Kitchen in New York earlier in the year, then spread to SoCal and Colorado, and people were already going crazy over the stuff. Unlike the gloppy orange nacho cheese you get at most fast-food places and football stadiums, theirs is made without additives, added colors, flavors or preservatives, just like the rest of their menu.

Their queso is made with aged cheddar cheese, tomatillos, tomatoes and peppers and will cost $1.25 to add it to your entrée or $5.25 for a large side of the stuff. Apparently, queso has been the most-requested item at the chain for years, so it’ll be interesting to see how people react to the chain now that they serve it.

I’ve always had a fondness for the radioactive orange “cheese” you can get at school cafeterias and gas stations around the country, so I’m definitely excited to try this gourmet, all-natural option. Looks like Chipotle and I are officially back on again.
