A YouTube video shot on Saturday shows a Texas cop completely out of control pulling his gun on a group of teenagers, screaming obscenities at them and slamming a 14-year-old girl on the ground—all because he was trying to break up a pool party. If you think that sounds a little heavy-handed for a bunch of kids at the pool, wait until you see the video.
On Saturday, a bunch of kids were playing at a Craig Ranch North Community Pool in Texas when, according to reports, police were called for a “disturbance” after residents reported a group of teenagers who “do not live in the area or have permission to be there.” Some reports say there was a report of a fight between a mom and her daughter at the pool.
In the video you see the cops run up to the group of teenagers as if they were engaging hardened criminals. The officer later identified as Corporal Eric Casebolt bursts onto the scene out of nowhere screaming “Move!” “Move!” with such fury he trips himself and does this sort of tactical Army roll kind of thing. You can tell in the video after he falls he’s really pissed.
One of the kids was nice enough to pick up the flashlight he dropped and return it to the other officer on the scene.
In the video the cop takes off running after kids in all directions, screaming filthy obscenities at them, and even pulling out his gun and threatening the unarmed kids. Most sickeningly, he throws an obviously innocent bystander—a 14-year-old little girl—on the ground, puts his knee in her back and proceeds to leave her pinned on the ground, sobbing, in hand cuffs in her bathing suit in the grass. All this while he continues in an obvious rage to scream at the kids who were trying to help the girl who just screamed and cried, “Call my mama.”
It’s disgusting to watch. According to reports, Officer Casebolt has been suspended from duty while the department investigates.
“First responding officers encountered a large crowd that refused to comply with police commands,” McKinney police said in a statement about the incident. “Nine additional units responded to the scene. Officers were eventually able to gain control of the situation.”
Doesn’t look like from that video those police officers would be able to control a petting zoo. The teenagers were much calmer and more reasonable.
Throughout the entire video the police officer in question can be seen running around like a lunatic screaming stuff like, ““I personally told you to get on the ground and stay. What did you do when I walked away? You did what everybody else did, and what everybody else did was illegal. You did it, and you got caught. Now, you’re sitting here, paying for it.”
Pretty sure that’s not how the law is supposed to work. And who wouldn’t have run away from this aggressive, screaming person with a bad temper and a loaded gun?
Brandon Brooks uploaded the original video said that cops completely ignored him because he’s white.
“I think a bunch of white parents were angry that a bunch of black kids who don’t live in the neighborhood were in the pool,” he told Buzzfeed News. “Everyone who was getting put on the ground was black, Mexican, Arabic,” he said. “[The cop] didn’t even look at me. It was kind of like I was invisible.”
In the video you can hear kids watching the officer flail around in anger and mutter under their breath “This guy is crazy, dude.”
Yup. Crazy and dangerous.
