Well, it’s Wednesday. That means if you squint really hard you can almost see all the way to Friday. In the meantime, though, you should relax and catch up on your morning news. Here are the top stories everyone will be talking about today:
1. Easy there, Bonnie and Clyde
A young Mississippi couple is facing federal charges for conspiring to join ISIS. The couple married in June and are accused of using their honeymoon as a cover to travel to Istanbul and pledge their allegiance to the terrorist group. Little did they know the “ISIS contact” they’d allegedly been communicating with online over the past few months was actually an undercover FBI agent. The newlyweds were apprehended at Golden Triangle Regional Airport in Columbus, Mississippi, and were denied bond. — CNN

2. Thanks a lot, China
China drastically devalued their currency — the yuan — this week and set off a chain reaction in the global economy. China hopes the move will stimulate their economy by encouraging consumers and companies to purchase more Chinese goods at rock bottom prices. As a result, Wall Street had a rough day. Apple stocks fell, U.S. oil prices bottomed out and other currencies across Asia also took a hit. Investors are worried this move by China might start a global currency war and prevent the U.S. from making moves to strengthen the dollar. — Reuters
3. #BlackLivesMatter
An Arlington, Texas, police officer accused of shooting an unarmed black man has been fired. The department’s chief says Officer Brad Miller exercised “inappropriate judgment” in the shooting, and they’ve turned all evidence over to a grand jury to decide whether or not Miller should be indicted on criminal charges. Miller is accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Christian Taylor after the young man allegedly drove his SUV through the window of a car dealership over the weekend. The police department initially said Taylor was killed during a physical altercation with Officer Miller, but further investigation showed Taylor never made contact with officers and it was Miller’s own actions that escalated the situation. The death has been ruled a homicide. — The New York Times

4. This is sure to spark debate
Yesterday Amnesty International voted in favor of decriminalizing all types of adult, consensual sex work. The hope is that by erasing the stigma of sex work, we’ll be better able to protect workers from harassment, exploitation and abuse. Critics say decriminalization will give pimps and brothel owners a dangerous level of authority. Anti-trafficking agencies wrote a letter to Amnesty earlier this year asking them to vote against decriminalization. The letter was endorsed by celebrities like Lena Dunham, Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet and Gloria Steinem. — TIME
5. Well, that escalated quickly
New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith will be out six to eight weeks recovering from a broken jaw. Smith was allegedly “sucker punched” in the locker room by linebacker IK Enemkpali. The fight was over $600 Smith owed to Enemkpali for some plane tickets, proving even mega-rich NFL players are sort of flaky about paying you back. Coaches called the fight “childish” and released Enemkpali. Veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will start the season in place of Smith. — ESPN

6. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice
Actress Winona Ryder confirmed a Beetlejuice sequel is in the works. Last year, both Michael Keaton and Tim Burton said a sequel to the 1988 cult classic was a possibility, but now there’s apparently a script and Winona is on board. This is really happening, you guys! Hollywood seems to be in a trend of recycling hits from our youth, but this is one we can actually get excited about. Between this and the upcoming Ghostbusters movie, we’re all blissed out on ’80s nostalgia. — Entertainment Weekly
