With the temperatures rising and flowers beginning to bloom, it’s time to put away your drab winter decor. Give your home a fresh new makeover for spring with this simple yet stunning spring mantel banner!
Not only is this bright banner cute, it’s extremely cheap to make. The total cost is less than $25, leaving you more money to spend on new wedges or that stunning Lily Pulitzer dress you’ve had your eye on.
Supplies:
- 6 pieces of colored foam sheets
- Flag stencil
- Pencil
- 1 sheet of burlap
- Scissors
- White paint
- Paint brushes
- Hot glue gun
- Twine
- Coffee filter flowers (make your own with this tutorial)
Instructions:
Cut out flag shapes
Either using your stencil or improvising, cut out six flag shapes from the different colored foam sheets.
Cut out burlap squares and glue to twine
Paint “spring” on foam sheets
Using white paint and your paintbrush, paint the word “spring” on the foam flags. Do one letter per flag for the best look. If you don’t have great painting penmanship, use a painted stamp.
Glue flags to burlap
Using your hot glue gun, glue the top back of the flags to the twine and burlap. Hold the flag down tightly for about 5 – 10 seconds so it sticks.
Add flower accents and hang
Cut the coffee filter flowers down and tape the backs to the sides of the flags.
Then hang the banner on your mantel and enjoy!
