A baby boy and girl make them a family of five, together with daughter Justice Jay, who was born in 2013.

Ackles, who plays Dean Winchester in CW’s horror-themed show, took to Instagram to announce the arrival of the twins, posting a picture of Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss and revealing the babies’ names in the caption.

Son Zeppelin Bram (the eldest by one minute) and daughter Arrow Rhodes are “doing great,” said Ackles.

Fans didn’t have to wait long to find out the reasons for the twins’ unique names. At a con in San Francisco over the weekend, Ackles gave an insight into their baby name choices.

You might assume Zeppelin is named after the iconic rock band, but in this case the name is much more symbolic. “There’s a knot known as the zeppelin blend and his cord was tied around him,” he explained when asked about his baby boy. Singer Jonathan Davis of Korn also named his son Zeppelin.

And when it came to Ackles’ daughter, they started off choosing her initials and took it from there. “We wanted an AA name and we both liked Arrow,” he explained.

Ackles and Harris married in 2010 in Ackles’ hometown of Dallas, Texas, after falling in love on the set of the 2007 romantic comedy Ten Inch Hero.
