Lincoln Children’s Zoo, Lincoln
Throughout the year Lincoln Children’s Zoo features many special programs such as Endangered Species Day which shows zoo-goers how they can help endangered species as well as offering interactive, themed activities. The Zoo Fun Run helps challenge and keep kids active and is billed as the “wildest kid’s race in town” while the Runza Reading Day at the Zoo brings books to life as they are read by local celebrities.
If you want to go to the extreme and take an animal home, watch for the Adopt a Lifelong Friend at the Zoo day. The Capital Humane Society introduces furry friends to potential future owners.
For those kids who like a little independence, the summer camp is an exciting way to spend the summer. There are three session options: morning, afternoon and full-day. Classes start at age 3 and go up to age 12. There’s even a traveling camp for teens aged 14 to 18.
