DWTS: 5 Reasons Bindi Irwin should win the Mirror Ball Trophy

Bindi Irwin and partner Derek Hough danced their way into the Dancing with the Stars final tonight as the semifinal round ended with surprising elimination drama.

Bindi Irwin experienced a bit of a blip tonight when she only scored nines on her opening salsa with Derek Hough, but she bounced back in the dance-off and trio rounds to take her usual spot at the top of the Dancing with the Stars leaderboard, and she is arguably the one to beat in the final.

Consistency

Bindi Irwin has been at or near the top of the leaderboard each week since the beginning of DWTS Season 21. From her very first routine, Irwin connected with her partner, Derek Hough, listened to the very few criticisms the judges offered up and delivered excellent routines showing growth each week.

Natural talent

We all knew Bindi Irwin was a natural performer and at home in front of the camera, as she appeared on television programs with her father from a very young age; however, she came to Dancing with the Stars with no background in dance. It turned out that Irwin had natural talent and it was rewarding to see her succeed against competitors who already had dance experience.

Determination

DWTS fans won’t soon forget the sight of Bindi Irwin’s terribly blistered feet with the toenails falling off midseason, but there was never any indication of her suffering during her routines, nor did she hesitate to push herself to perform. When Irwin received a technical note from the judges, she took it in stride and improved. When she lost points on her score in tonight’s semifinal for not shaking her hips enough in her opening salsa routine, she brought that action later in the dance-off round and earned a perfect score. She’s a marvel.

Energy and sparkle

The Dancing with the Stars judges remarked numerous times throughout the season on the remarkable energy that Bindi Irwin brought to each of her performances. She brought an intangible “magic” to almost all of her routines; something borne of her inner effervescence and sparkling personality that made each dance that much more special.

Role model

Bindi Irwin is more than just an accomplished dancer and performer. She’s a terrific role model for young women and an inspiration. Her personal story of her father’s untimely death has touched many; we have cried along with her and imagined how proud her father would be of her ongoing strength, positive attitude and determination to give life her all.

Elimination

Due to Tamar Braxton’s withdrawal from the competition, all four remaining competitors were allowed to go through to next week’s Dancing with the Stars Season 21 finale. Prior to that announcement, there was still some tension and drama, however, as it was revealed that Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough, and Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess were the bottom two after voting. Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold, and Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson were told they were safe initially. Some fans were skeptical and many were relieved to hear there would be no elimination.

What do you think about Nick Carter and Bindi Irwin being in jeopardy? Which was your favorite trio dance? Who do you want to see take home the Mirror Ball Trophy?
