It’s pretty tough to maintain a healthy relationship in Hollywood, and unfortunately another couple has joined the already long list of celeb breakups in 2016: Bella Thorne and Gregg Sulkin have split after more than a year of dating.

We’ve witnessed some pretty big cheating scandals this year, but what went wrong with Thorne and Sulkin? Not much, apparently, as they revealed during a joint statement to Us Weekly that it was their busy schedules that led to their split.
“After much thought and soul-searching, we have made the difficult decision to end our relationship,” the former couple told the publication. “We will always love each other and have a deep respect for one another, as we have each grown to be better people because of our time together. Our schedules made seeing each other difficult, and we decided that for now this would be best.”
Fans will be mourning the breakup of one of the cutest young Hollywood couples (they were definitely not afraid to show some PDA on Instagram), but do we really believe that their busy lives are what caused them to end their relationship?

Ugh. It’s one of the most tired excuses for a breakup, and while it’s perfectly possible that it’s true, there’s also the fact that the relationship could have just run its course. Plus, we all know that relationships can be especially hard to maintain when you’re a teenager, and Thorne is only 18 years old.
However, Thorne did take to Twitter to address the breakup, and it seems that she has nothing but nice things to say about Sulkin.

As for Sulkin? He’s been on Twitter, but doesn’t appear to have addressed the relationship. Instead, he tweeted about work, telling fans that he was off to rehearsals and had a “great development meeting today.”
