We love Selma Blair even more for her honest account of her scary plane ride

In her own words, Selma Blair had a “total psychotic blackout” on a flight home from Cancun four months ago, but she’s totally owning up to it — and it’s helping her move on.

Word that Blair had been carried off a plane on a stretcher after being disruptive and making incoherent statements on the flight hit the internet in June, causing the public to worry about her mental health and sobriety. Blair issued a brief apology shortly after the incident, but she explained things even further in an interview on Wednesday’s episode of The Talk.

“Yes, thank God [I’m OK now],” Blair told Sharon Osbourne during the appearance. “Hopefully, everyone on the plane is doing fine by now, too, because it was very destructive.”

“I am someone who should never drink, and I rarely do, and I don’t drink anymore, but I was going through something,” Blair explained. “I had a glass of wine and someone gave me a pill that I thought was something that I’d taken before… it was something completely different… and I had a total psychotic blackout.”

But Blair wants everyone to know that her behavior on that flight in June was not the norm. She’s forgiven herself what happened that day, and we think you should too.

“I have empathy for myself because it was so out of character for me, especially now that I’m a mother,” Blair continued. “I was taken to a clinic to get an IV and get an assessment and I went home two hours later. But there were so many paparazzi, and I was just like, ‘Oh my God, what have I created?’ I felt horrible. My son was with his father and he had slept through it… I knew he was going to sleep… so that’s why I took this pill… [but] bad choice all around — I totally own it. Will not happen again… I forgive myself, but I keep it alive.”
