Prince William responds to rumours of strife with Harry over Meghan Markle

Have you ever wondered if the royal family read all the nonsense that’s written about them? Well, Prince William was definitely aware of the rumours that circulated over the weekend that he wasn’t happy with little brother Harry for releasing a statement about his relationship with American actress Meghan Markle.

And like Prince Harry did when he urged the media to stop the abuse and harassment of Markle, Prince William took the unusual step of releasing a public statement.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace, which looks after the affairs of Prince Harry and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, told The Telegraph: “The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him.”

According to the newspaper, the brothers had a “heart to heart conversation” about whether it was appropriate to make a public plea to those abusing Markle — and ultimately decided that it was.

A royal insider said Prince Harry would never have released the statement if Prince William hadn’t approved.

Prince William has only released a statement about his own love life on one occasion. In 2003 before he began dating the Duchess of Cambridge, his spokesperson denied he was in a relationship with his friend Jecca Craig, something that was never done for any of his other alleged girlfriends.

Prince Harry is currently on a 15-day tour of the Caribbean to mark the 35th anniversary of independence in Antigua and Barbuda and the 50th anniversary of independence in Barbados and Guyana, while Markle is getting into the Christmas spirit with friends in California 2,600 miles away.
